Pre-professional Medical Programs
The preparatory medical curriculums (pre-med, preosteopathic medicine, predentistry, preveterinary medicine) are secondary programs of courses which meet the usual requirements for admission to a professional school. The student pursuing such a secondary program must satisfy the requirements in conjunction with satisfying the requirements of the primary major program. A student can not major in pre-med alone, for example, students need to select a primary major.
The courses for the pre-med programs most extensively overlap the B.S. degree program in Zoology or the B.S. degree program in Biology, especially the Molecular and Cellular Concentration. Many pre-med students decide to take one of these majors as their primary program. Other majors which overlap with the pre-med program are the B.A. degree program in biology or the B.S. program chemistry. Some pre-med students choose still other primary majors, such as psychology or anthropology. In fact, other degree programs are acceptable to medical schools, as long as the specified preparatory courses are taken. Students pursuing a primary major in a non-science field should also seek advice from the pre-medical advisers in the Department of Biological Sciences.
Pre-medicine, Pre-Osteopathic Medicine, and Pre-veterinary "secondary" major Graduation Requirements.
Predentistry "secondary" major Graduation Requirements.
